Jessica is a Chinese-American director/producer interested in the intersection of experimental cinema and mainstream media. She is a 25 New Faces of Independent Film filmmaker in 2017. Her short film Commodity City shot in Yiwu, China is an observational documentary about the world’s largest wholesale mall. It has played at over 40 film festivals including IFF Rotterdam, True/False, Sheffield and Camden. It won the Tom Berman Award for Most Promising Director at Ann Arbor Film Festival and is shortlisted for the 2017 Cinema Eye Honors. Her episodic series Fanwei was selected for the 2017 Spotlight on Documentary IFP Film Week. Her residencies include the UnionDocs Lab and the Points North Institute Shortform Editing Residency. She is a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective. She also works as an independent producer, and recently co-produced the feature film Old Stone which premiered at the Berlinale 2016 and won Best Canadian First Feature at TIFF 2016. She received her BA in Film Studies from Columbia University and her MA in Media Studies from The New School.
