Katja Duregger was born in Stuttgart, Germany. She studied Political Science, History, Philosophy, Rhetoric, Literature and Media Science with the main focus on Documentary Films at the Universities of Cologne, Tübingen and Marburg. She got Special Directing Education at the TV-Production Cine Relation GmbH and at Documentary Film School Münster. Before, during and after the studies she worked at Radio-Stations (Stadtradio Stuttgart, Radio Hamburg, Hit Radio FFH in Frankfurt) and at WDR-Radio (Cologne) and TV-Productions (probono GmbH, PRO GmbH). Since 2000 she has worked as a freelance TV-Journalist and Documentary Filmmaker for the German TV stations WDR, NDR, HR, SWR, ZDF, 3sat, Arte etc., Subjects: Culture, Music, Politics and Society, since the year 2009 also as a producer and director of Music-EPKs and Corporate Films.
