Yuliya Shatun (Belarus)

Yulia Shatun(1992) is a Belarusian fiction and documentary director, graduated from the Belarusian State Cultural University where she majored in art management and the Belarusian Collegium where she studied literature and philosophy. Later she directed several stage plays. Her feature debut Tomorrow, combining fiction and documentary, was awarded Best Belarusian Film of 2017 at Minsk IFF and premiered internationally at FIDMarseille where it received First Prize, Special Mention – Georges de Beauregard International Prize, the Renaud Victor Prize and Special Mention – Marcelle Esperance Prize. In 2019 her short experimental film Boundaries premiered in the Student Competition of the Jihlava IDFF, nomination for Silver Eye award 2019 at East Silver Market and participated in several international festivals. She was also one of the authors of the documentary series Unknown Belarus (2020) on Current Time TV. She currently studies filmmaking at the Moscow School of New Cinema in Russia.
