Lorna Tucker (United Kingdom)

Lorna Tucker spent her twenties working behind the camera and jumping on tour buses with bands such as Unkle, Lupe Fiasco and The Cult, creating tour videos and music promos. She then moved into longer format storytelling; directing documentaries, script writing and creating more experimental video art projects for the likes of Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Nike, Redbull and ShowStudio.

In 2018, her first feature feature documentary Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist was chosen for competition and debuted to great acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival. Westwood played at several prominent film festivals including True/False and CPH:DOX 2018, Sydney Film Festival and IDFA. In 2018 Lorna was named by both Harpers Bazaar and Elle Magazine as one of the five biggest breakout female film makers of the year. She was also included in the Evening Standard's 2018 Progress 1000 list of London's most influential people.

December 2018 also saw the release of Lorna's second feature documentary, Amá. Because of its socially sensitive nature, Amá took over 9 years to bring to fruition and is a gentle yet powerful film about the sterilization abuses of Native American women across the United States over the past 60 years. Produced by Raindog Films and released through Dartmouth Films, Amá has been screened at various film festivals in the UK, the US and Canada. Since its release, hundreds of women across North America have finally felt able to come forward as victims of abuse for the first time and Amnesty plans to screen Amá on Parliament Hill in Ottawa and Capitol Hill in Washington.

Lorna is currently developing several other feature projects and was named as one of Creative England's CE50 for 2019. Her original screenplay Bare will be produced by Colin Firth and Ged Doherty of Raindog Films and Lorena Wright, with support from the BFI. Based on her own experiences, Bare is the compelling and emotional story of a young homeless girl’s fight to survive on the streets of London and will be be Lorna’s feature debut as writer/ director.
