Julie Bertuccelli studied philosophy before moving into documentary film-making. Her breakthrough film was Depuis qu'Otar est parti..., which she also co-wrote and which went on to win twenty prizes both in France and elsewhere. It was followed by L’Arbre *(The Tree, 2010) and *La Cour de Babel (The School of Babel, 2014). Her latest documentary film, Dernières Nouvelles du cosmos (2016) was nominated for “Best documentary” at the 2017 Césars.
Bertuccelli is the first female President of the French collective management society, La Scam between 2013 and 2015. She was re-elected chair of La Scam between 2017 and 2019.
