Marcela Arteaga graduated from El Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in México City, attaining her Bachelor Degree as Director. On the other side of the sea, her thesis film received the Best short film award at the New York International Student Film Festival and the Cancun Film Festival and a Special mention at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Professionally she has collaborated on films of filmmakers such as Carlos Carrera, María Novaro, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Tomás Gutierrez Alea. Remembrance, her documentary film received the Mayahuel Award to the Best Film / FIPRESCI Award / International Catholic Cinematography Organization Award at the Guadalajara International Film Festival, México. El Guardián de la Memoria was awarded by the Mexican Academy of Films (AMACC) with the Ariel 2020 for Best Documentary.
