Nelson G. Navarrete (Venezuela)

Nelson G. Navarrete is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. Nelson was born in Caracas, Venezuela and immigrated to the Bay Area at the age of 15. His filmmaking career began when he met the legendary rap artist Canserbero on a trip back home to Venezuela. Together, Nelson and Canserbero went on to create music videos that have changed the visual course of Latin American Hip Hop culture. Beginning in 2016, Nelson directed and produced his first feature film, A La Calle, a documentary that explores the complex political tensions of Venezuela in the last 6 years. The documentary premiered at DOCNYC in 2020. That same year, Nelson began writing and developing his first feature fiction, to be filmed in Medellin. Nelson is also the founder of Codigos, a pan-Latin production house showcasing artists from the United States and Latin America.
