CHEN Singing (Taiwan)

Singing CHEN is a filmmaker whose works span documentary and fiction. All her films show her long-term observations on modern society, delivering profound portrayals of characters and their situations. She is adept at using absurdity and magical realism to highlight the larger structural issues at work. In 2014, her feature-length documentary film The Walkers was nominated for the Best Documentary at both the Golden Horse Awards and the Taipei Film Awards, while being selected for the International Competition programme at the TIDF. In Taiwan, it also saw a successful theatrical release for three months.
