Born in 1962 in Southern Germany. Studied Acting in Frankfurt am Main, followed by engagements at the Thalia Theater Hamburg and the Schaubühne Berlin. Studied Directing from 1990-1995 at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin. She is a professor for Narrative Film at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg. Her films have screened at the Berlinale, in Cannes and in Locarno.
