Tizza Covi (born in Bolzano, Italy, in 1971) lived in Paris and Berlin before studying to become a photographer at the Graphische Lehranstalt in Vienna. After finishing her studies she went to Rome where she worked as a free-lance photographer. She has won several scholarships for her photographic work. She co-founded production company Vento film togehter with Rainer Frimmel with whom she studied togehter in Vienna. They made together two feature documentaries That's All and Babooska. La Pivellina was their first fiction film. The shine of the day (2012) received the Silver Leopard for best actor in Locarno and the Max Ophüls Prize in Saarbrücken. Their third feature film Mister Universo (2016) also premiered in Locarno where it received the Fipresci Award. Like all their films it was realised with non professional actors and it was shot on Super 16mm film.
