Juan Carlos Rulfo (born 1964 in Mexico City) is a Mexican screenwriter and director son of cult author Juan Rulfo. He grauated from Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica. He has written, produced, and photographed several films. He is married to Valentina Leduc Navarro a Mexican director.
In the year of 2000 he won the annual Mexican Academy of Film Award Ariel for Best Editing and Best First Work for his first movie Del Olvido al No me Acuerdo/ Juan, I Forgot I Don’t Remember (which is dedicated to his deceased father), and was nominated for Best Direction and Best Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. His next feature movie In The Pit which tells the story of several construction workers in Mexico City involved in the construction of the second story of the Periferico Freeway won the Grand Jury Prize for an International Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival. Rulfo has also won at the Goya Awards, the Guadalajara International Film Festival, the Havana Film Festival, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the Montréal World Film Festival.
