Alessandro Cassigoli was born in 1976 in Italy. When he was 20 he moved to Rome where he attended film school and worked as an assistant director for many Italian films and popular TV series.Together with the Italian-Israeli director Dalia Castel, he made first two documentaries: In the Bubble and Good Times, both shot in Israel and Palestine.
Good Times won awards in 15 different international film festivals, including the Grand Jury Award at Full Frame Festival (USA 2005) and the Ver.di Prize at the Leipzig Dok Festival (Germany 2004). In 2005 he moved to Berlin after winning the Nipkow Programm fellowship, a prestigious scholarship for audiovisual and media professionals.
In 2006, continuing his partnership with Dalia, he made a short documentary called Relatively Free which won the International Documentary Challenge, a timed filmmaking competition.
Since 2007 he has directed four documentaries for the program 360º GEO which airs on the French/German television “Arte”.
Today he commutes between Italy and Berlin, still working full time on commissioned projects for television and creative documentaries
