Mercedes Alvarez (Spain)

El Cielo Gira (2005), first long film by Mercedes Álvarez, gained the unanimous acclaim of both critics and numerous international awards, such as the Tiger Awards from Rotterdam, Cinema du Rèel from Paris, Infinity from Alba (Italy) or BAFICI from Buenos Aires, and has been shown in more than 30 countries. She has also made the short documentary El Viento Africano (1997) and, more recently, her cinematographic poem Mercado de futuros.
