David Redmon (United States)

David Redmon is a documentarian who explores storytelling at the gape he locates between fiction and non-fiction. With his partner, Ashley Sabin, he makes films that he says "mash together contrasting styles and jarring images, intentionally violating accepted rules of perfect cuts, standard lighting, and conventional storytelling." He explains that, "In real life, people behave irrationally, succumbing to madness and sometimes self-destruction while pursuing their desires." The couple's Carnivalesque Films, based in Maine, has produced, directed, edited and filmed productions that have been screened at Sundance, SXSW, Toronto, Visions du Reel, Vienna, Tribeca, the Museum of Modern Art, Hot Docs, Human Rights Watch and have been shown on PBS, the BBC and other U.S. and international entities.
