Audio Tracks

The third part of a loose trilogy focusing on communist Czechoslovakia of the 1970s and 1980’s, a time when the directors were born and grew up. The title of the film is in reference to Gustáv Husák, the elected President of Czechoslovakia in 1975. During the two decades of Husák's leadership Czechoslovakia became one of Moscow's most loyal allies.

The narrative of the film is set around a series of interviews conducted by the director Robert Sedláček and producer Radim Procházka with both of their parents. The parents are subjected to an uncomfortable line of questioning around their collaboration with the regime of the time. These interviews are supplemented by archive footage and other interviews with a range of people from communist functionaries, to the so-called ‘grey zone’, and through to civilian dissidents. The documentary works at uncovering a relatively opaque period of history and aims at creating discussions between generations.
