A psychological drama about the implementation of the Nazis’ Nuremberg Laws, which has a major impact on a town in eastern Slovakia. Local Jews are forced to depart for concentration camps, and their possessions are confiscated. One of the most celebrated Czechoslovak films represents a pinnacle of the Czechoslovak New Wave and won the Best Foreign Film Oscar in 1967.
