The Hradčany district of Prague. A 16th century building, which abuts the Foreign Ministry, is one of the few places in the area still inhabited by its original, pre-Revolution tenants. The owner, however, has decided to sell the building, and all of its occupants, including the director of the film, will have to move out. After renovation, the building will be made into luxury hotel suites, to be used also by EU commissioners. Sold captures the limbo of uncertainty in the period prior to moving out; each tenant must come to terms with the situation in his or her own way. The mysterious owner of the building, Mr. Hulicius, emigrated to West Germany before the 1948 Communist takeover. There, in the 1970s, he starred in an educational film on hair implants. This unique archive material is included in the film: The tragedy of one house - the tragicomedy of one head.
