Leonid and his wife used to live in a small village near Chernobyl. They were happy and looked forward to the birth of their child, until they were driven out of their Garden of Eden in 1986 … The film uses the story of Leonid’s life to show the arbitrariness of the Soviet state apparatus, the villagers’ ignorance of what was going on and the lack of communication during the evacuation that followed the nuclear accident.
